This weekend we saw the NFL’s final four trimmed down to two. The New York Giants will face off against the New England Patriots in a rematch of the 2007 Super Bowl. The NFC and AFC Championship games lived up to the hype, as neither game was a blowout and both games went down to the end. I was glad to see that both games were so competitive.
Team Moms: Celebrating the “Special Teams” of Youth Sports
It was Wednesday morning, not just any Wednesday morning, but the day before Thanksgiving, and Lisa Fields and Rebecca Reisbeck were on the highway headed to Las Vegas. They were traveling with their sons’ 8th grade Arapahoe Youth League (AYL) Panther Black youth football team from Littleton, Colorado to participate in the National Youth Football Championship Western Tournament, which took place over Thanksgiving weekend. There were games scheduled on Thanksgiving Day. The Tournament featured over 200 teams and thousands of players from the Western states. Thanksgiving dinner was eaten at a buffet restaurant 800 miles from home. Lisa and Rebecca are Team Moms.

Although the men’s college hoops Top 25 is an ever-changing carousel of teams, the top spot has been owned by the Syracuse Orangemen for the sixth straight week. Syracuse has beaten all comers and is one of the few teams in Division I to remain undefeated. Also undefeated are #12 Murray State and #3 Baylor.

Comment and Analysis
Pro Football (NFL) . . . Heartbreaking . . . the word that can describe the ending of both NFL Championship games. . . . In the Ravens vs. Patriots game, field goal kicker, Billy Cundiff, missed a routine 32-yard field goal to tie the game and go into overtime. . . . In the Giants vs. Forty Niners game, punt returner, Kyle Williams, fumbled a punt (he muffed a punt earlier in the game) deep in Giants’ territory, which resulted in a winning field goal for New York. . . . Both players have received numerous death threats. . . . While Ravens and Forty Niners fans desperately want to blame someone so their disappointment, disillusionment, and frustration can find a place to rest and forget, let’s not threaten people over what is, after all, a game. . . . A game that we put our heart, soul, and hopes into, but a game, nonetheless . . .
